Get Involved

Lancaster & District Green Party is one of the most successful local Green Party groups in England.

Our History

  • In 1999 five Greens Councillors were elected to Lancaster City Council.
  • In 2001, Jonathon Sear was elected to Lancashire County Council
  • In 2003, on Lancaster City Council, 5 councillors became 7
  • In 2007 Lancaster City Council, Lancaster Greens won a further 5 seats, resulting in a total of 12 councillors.
  • In 2009, Sam Riches and Chris Coates were elected to Lancashire County Council wards Lancaster Central and Lancaster East respectfully.

We have succeeded in getting many new initiatives debated and implemented, and in blocking decisions which we believe would be harmful to our communities.

Mini Manifesto 2011 – 2015

North Lancashire Green Party Manifesto 2011-2015

In our manifesto we highlight some of our recent achievements as local Green councillors and outline practical policies for the direction in which we think our district should go. We want good and well-run services, and stable, strong communities. However we also want to tackle the environmental and social crises that we face today.

The manifesto is available in booklet form – send us your address and we will send you one.
