County Cllr Sam Riches
Sam was elected as the County Councillor for the Electoral Division of Lancaster East in June 2009, but she has lived in Lancaster for six years. Sam’s home is in the Lancaster East division, between the Ridge estate and the Freehold area. Sam is married and has a teenage son, and she is particularly interested in education issues. Sam works part-time as the Co-ordinator of the Centre for North-West Regional Studies, which is based at Lancaster University. She has worked for many years in adult education, especially organising open-access courses, and sometimes teaching them, in the areas of history, archaeology and ecology. “The North-West of England is a fascinating area which has a vibrant history going back over 2,000 years, and I’m delighted to be able to do my bit to allow the people who live here to access their heritage.”
